Cats could require nail trimmings every so often. Once your cat is comfortable enough to help you relaxation your hand on its paws without pulling away, begin to gently maintain its paws in your open hand. When the trimmer is held with the screws towards you, the cutting blade is reducing nearer to the quick than if the trimmer is held with the chopping blade towards you.
Please note, chances are you’ll want to do just one paw at a time for the first couple of sessions. At that age, small fingernail clippers work nicely as the claws are tiny. Scratching also helps cats mark their territory by means of activating scent glands which are current in the paws.
Gently massage your pet with a solution of 1 part cat shampoo (human shampoo can dry out her skin) to five elements water, working from head to tail, in the path of hair growth. If your cat refuses to let you clip her claws, ask your vet or a groomer for help.
Typically if the clippers aren’t super sharp the nail might barely splinter, but I do not think it is dangerous to the cat, they’re going to naturally slough off…
